Phelps. Castle Hill

Kind Words From Our Client

Having never even had so much as a storm porch added to any of my many previous homes, we somewhat surreally, found ourselves in the, admittedly enviable position, of being about to build an 8000sqft family home. But, we needed a builder!

I think it is fair to say that there are many horror stories attached to house building such as this, however, having courted four building contractors, it was Pearson Building that we felt the most confidence in and I am pleased to report that it could not have been a more pleasurable experience.

Nothing was too much for the Pearson team. They ran an immaculately organised and tidy site and showed total respect to our neighbourhood, with this being a huge importance that is oft overlooked by those who have to reside there long after the project has completed.

Ian Pearson’s own attention to detail was often felt in many ways as the project developed and situations arose where even the smallest of changes could and would, clearly prove beneficial to the end aesthetic and flow as a family home. I too have major needs for the perfection of line, form, design and finish and Pearson Building delivered over and above expectation on all of these requirements never making my presence, comment or question, feel unwanted.

Full clarity of all costs was provided every month from day one, and the project was delivered on time and on budget with the only uplifts being that of additional elements that I requested and these were always costed and reported to us first so we could decide if they were acceptable or not. There were simply no hidden surprises.

We are fortunate to live in a premium town of which we now live in what has been so many times now, referred to by many others as simply the most wonderful and fantastic house in the whole town. We feel very privileged of this, but we also feel very lucky too. Lucky that firstly we met Ian Pearson. Lucky that we then chose to have Pearson Building build our home and that it couldn’t have been a more enjoyable process to boot making the home we now live in that bit more special than one should the process not have been such a pleasant one.

Bravo the Pearson Building Team and may you continue to prosper!

Kind Words From Our Customer

We are thrilled with the work that Ian and his team did to extend and renovate our house in Coleshill. The eight-month job involved re-wiring and re-plumbing the entire house, as well as significant structural changes and a new extension to the side of the property.

Building work can be incredibly daunting, but we felt very early on that the work was in the hands of professionals. Ian was very good at communicating with us and helping us to navigate the whole process, which helped enormously. Everyone Ian brought to work on the project was courteous, efficient and highly skilled in their field.

We found Ian’s knowledge and experience of managing similar projects invaluable. He has an excellent eye for detail, and we were pleased to take his advice on many of the decisions that needed to be made as we neared completion.

He managed the whole process very smoothly, resolving any issues that naturally arose throughout the build, promptly and courteously.

We cannot say enough how pleased we are with the results! The quality of the workmanship is superb. The decorating and attention to detail in the finish is second to none.

We would have no hesitation in recommending Pearson Building for any house building or renovation project.

Kind Words From Our Customer

Back in 2015, I was asked by my overseas client and also a friend to build an extension, but due to my commitments, I was unable to start in time to meet the required completion date, so he asked me to commission the works which I was pleased to do.

Ian Pearson came highly recommended as a quality builder, and after several meetings with our architects, I became very confident with Both him and his team.

The works started, and it was not a straight forward build with lots of obstacles including the excavation of the existing swimming pool and underpinning to the main house.

The way they carried out the work along with all the health and safety aspects was very professional, and Pearson’s work-force is, in my opinion, outstanding and produces a very high-quality finish.

The standard of workmanship is second to none, and despite my client making many changes and giving lots of additional work, the whole job finished on time.

I found working with Ian and his site manager a pleasure and would have no worries about working with them again should the opportunity ever arise. In addition to the building work, I found that they were outstanding in dealing with architects and building control to make the job run smoothly.

I know my client is extremely pleased with the work carried out and I would highly recommend Pearson building and would like to take this opportunity to thank them for the work they have done.

Words from our Client

Even before we had the tender back from Ian Pearson, we had made our minds up that we wanted to appoint him as the Contractor for our build. After meeting him and talking through the drawings for our project, we were so taken with his enthusiasm and passion for our project, and by the quality of his previous projects, that we decided to go for him even though, when the bids came back, he wasn’t the lowest, but certainly not the most expensive.

We have nothing negative to say about Ian Pearson and his team. Not many people can say that about their builders. At every level, whatever the trade, the men were efficient, hard-working and dependable. They were also friendly and polite. This was important to me as I had been concerned about how the men on site would respond to a mum and her kids visiting most days.

The build itself has been far from conventional and some challenges inevitably arose during the course of construction. However, we always felt that we could trust the team to find a solution and that we were in safe hands. The quality of the final finish has been exceptional. Thanks to the professionalism of the Forman, Gordon, the quality of the workmanship of the men on site and the attention to detail shown by Ian Pearson we now live in a beautiful home that exceeds our expectations.

It was a once in a lifetime experience for us to do a complete renovation on an old house to turn it, we hoped, into a family home.
After hearing so many stories about nightmare builders we were apprehensive about embarking on this big project which involved over 10 months of work on a big extension, new roof, complete refit of existing parts and complete landscaping.
We selected Pearson because right from the start they showed a keen interest in the detail of what was being proposed, and were not afraid to ask probing questions about our plans in order to ensure that what we had planned was right from a building regs perspective. We preferred this attitude to builders that seemed to just nod their heads to everything we said. This attention to detail has continued throughout.
The whole project has run extremely well, with the level of service and workmanship being outstanding on all levels.
When issues have arisen (which are inevitable on such a large project) Ian and his team have always been able to come up with solutions and have gone the extra mile to make things work. The team on site have always been really nice to deal with and very polite, even the neighbours have commented on how hard they work and how neat the site is. These guys turn up early in the morning and work really hard all day, no knocking off early.
Our sometimes maddening questions have been dealt with promptly and well. Pearson have delivered a fantastic family home to us on time and on budget. We would not hesitate to recommend them. We have been spoilt now that we have seen what good builders can do. The building control inspector from South Bucks Council commented that the level of workmanship was exemplary, and that is rare these days.

Stunning executive three storey home. Finished on budget and ahead of time (10 months)

Executive Home – Gerrards Cross, Bucks.

Pearson Building constructed this substantial Executive Home in 2012. The private client selected Pearson following a tender process amongst a number of high quality construction firms with established profiles in the locality.
The contract included demolition of an existing house on the site, construction and fit out of a c. five thousand square foot detached unit, and landscaping. The house extends over three floors, comprising five bedrooms and five bathrooms, with a brick finish in Georgian style. The contract required delivery of an exacting high specification finish, both external and internal. The building was completed over 10 months – within timescale and budget.

Pearson Building adopted a strong partnership style with the client throughout the project. This approach facilitated frequent site meetings to review progress, valuable input into design features and product selection, and efficient site management. A strong feature of the Pearson approach was the maintenance of a stable construction team throughout the build programme; an established workforce and relationships with long term specialist sub-contractors ensured the maintenance of high quality workmanship and adherence to schedule.

Pearson Building delivered a superb finished product to a highly satisfied client, which reflects the focused attention to detail adopted by Ian Pearson.

In situ Concrete Floor

Generally, constructing an extension on a clients home doesn’t lend itself to this form of construction due mainly to the experiences of a ‘general builder’ and the specialist technical skills required.

On one of our latest projects, due to local authority planning restrictions on building height and a requirement to cantilever part of the building, the structural engineer’s specification called for a reinforced in situ concrete floor slab. This was considered as the only form of construction left that would meet the design parameters.

The construction of the slab was carried out entirely by Pearson’s in-house tradesmen to millimetre tolerences. It was found to be speedy and cost effective given our project’s limitations, and it should be worthy of consideration to any design team as a design alternative if you find that other more common methods do not meet your requirements.

Kind words from our client

My husband and I and our four boys (then 8, 6, 5, and 2 years old) moved into Three Chimneys in January 2007. We knew that we would want to undertake some work on the house and 2 years later, with the help of an architect we had decided what shape it should take. We wanted to change the layout of the house so that each of our sons could have their own bedroom, to create some better guest accommodation and to build a garage to house the mountains of bikes and clutter that we had accumulated. In the end, we also decided we wanted to rewire, replumb and redecorate the whole house as well!

We went out to tender to a number of building firms and quickly whittled it down to two from whom we took references and made site visits. We were immediately impressed by what we saw from Pearson Building and were happy to appoint them for the work.

From day one and throughout the project Pearsons were incredibly professional, hard working, diligent and passionate about achieving excellence in every aspect of the work. It’s hard to say which would have been the greater burden: trying to accommodate four very lively and inquisitive boys or dealing with the fact that our brief changed daily, but the whole team kept their good humour and patience throughout.

This is the fifth major building project that I have managed, and it was easily the best experience I have had. I am happy for people to call me or visit our house if you would like any further information.

  • Kind words from our client

“Having spent 40 years in the house building and construction industry, when I decided to design and build my own house one of the big challenges was to find a local builder who could meet the challenge of building a unique, contemporary designed house and deliver the high standard of quality and finish I required.

In finding Pearson Building they lived up to my expectations and delivered an excellent building on time. I was impressed with their attention to detail and keeping the site clean and tidy together with their awareness of protecting surfaces as the project progressed.

I found all of Pearson Buildings’ operatives friendly, helpful and courteous during the whole of the development process.”
